Resident Round Table December Highlights
To help our residents identify and share their success stories and current challenges, we hold a monthly roundtable event. Over lunch, we exchange news of product breakthroughs, user feedback, market opportunities, funding and investment stories. These meetings are valuable as they allow residents to bring specific needs to the table and provides fresh perspectives and collectively sourced solutions.
In November we had 9 companies become new residents which means the FuseBox is the busiest we’ve ever been. In lieu of these starters, this month’s round table involved a lot of welcomes and introductions. We also had interesting updates from the following residents:
Success for VR piece; Forever by Alex Peckham
New FuseBox resident and Brighton based Artist Alex Peckham produced his first VR piece: Forever which he showcased at Brighton Digital Festival in September and also PlayUK a British Council funded festival in Munich. Alex is currently taking his learnings from these exhibitions and putting time into researching how to develop and further the outreach of this production.
Sarah Ticho, Hatsumi leading the way for health and VR
Sarah Ticho, founder of our own VR agency: Hatsumi VR has also had a busy year, celebrating the recent success of running groundbreaking conference: Immersive Technologies For Healthcare in partnership with ImmerseUK. Sarah is now concentrating her efforts on building community engagement with all her projects.
Development work for Rachel Henson, Outshift.
With the help of her recent and successful Art Council bid, Rachel Henson, Founder of Outshift is working hard creating the next version of Quizzer; a lens attached to a smartphone that innovatively merges real life with augmented reality. Rachel is doing this by embarking on a period of reiterations and also testing out the potential of incorporating 360 video into her work.
